Nora J. Hoerner

Nora J. Hoerner (nee De Luca), passed away at home on July 1, 2024 at age 100 with her loving family by her side. 

 Born in Joliet on May 7, 1924 to the late Frank and Maria (nee De Luca) De Luca. She married John R. Hoerner on October 11, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 2021, along with her son Thomas (Tom) Hoerner in 2024; her parents; sister, Livia and her in-laws George and Alice Hoerner. 

 Survived by her loving sons, Robert (Betty) Hoerner and Timothy (Suzanne) Hoerner; daughter-in-law Donna (late Tom) Hoerner; 2 granddaughters, Angela (Kenneth) Florman and Jade Hoerner; great grandchildren, Graham and Clementine Florman.

 Nora was an excellent cook, especially Italian dishes. She loved playing bunco and listening to Andrea Bocelli and was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed her yearly trips to Minnesota with her friends Jake and Marge Lusinger and family. She also enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

 The family would like to thank Nancy Huckaba for spending time with Nora a couple days a week so Betty could have a much-needed break. A special thank you to Lightways Hospice for the compassionate and excellent care.

 In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice or Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery would be appreciated. 

 Cremations rights will be accorded per Nora’s Wishes. Inurnment rights will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery along with her husband John R. Hoerner.
