Norman E. DuVal

January 31, 1943 — September 12, 2024

Norman E. DuVal, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on September 12, 2024, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 31, 1943, Norm dedicated much of his life to his career as the owner of D&S Foods in Marseilles, Illinois and Morris, Illinois. His commitment to his business and the community he served was evident throughout his decades of hard work and devotion. Norm’s entrepreneurial spirit mirrored the same dedication he showed in all areas of his life.

A proud United States Army veteran, Norm exemplified the values of service and commitment. His experiences in the military shaped his character and instilled a sense of honor that he carried with him throughout his life.

Family was of utmost importance to Norm. He was the loving husband of Sharyn (nee Lukanich) for 56 years. Together, they raised three children: Brad (Tara) DuVal, Brian (Kimberly) DuVal, and Ann (Nick Curry) DuVal. Norm cherished his role as a grandfather, finding joy in every moment spent with Gabrielle, Jonathan, Noah, Jack, Emma, Addison, and Scarlett. He loved participating in his grandchildren's lives, frequently attending their sporting events, celebrating their achievements and never letting an opportunity to care for them pass by.

In addition to his family commitments, Norm had a zest for life that permeated his every pursuit. He cherished the great outdoors, enjoying sports, particularly supporting USC, while also being an avid golfer. While on the golf course, Norm never forgot his tanning oil, the perfect place to bronze his skin. His leisure time often included snow skiing and boating, as well as creating lasting memories at his Michigan home and vacationing in Sarasota, Florida with family. A true enthusiast of nature, Norm took great pride in manicuring his yard and tending to his flowers, ensuring they were always in perfect condition.

Norm's warmth and pleasant nature made him a friend to many. He was predeceased by his mother, Wallace (nee Cooling) DuVal; father, Edward DuVal; brother, Rich DuVal; in-laws, Jack (Betty) Lukanich, Jay Widlowski, and Nancy (William) Busse; and nephew, Michael Busse.

The legacy of Norman E. DuVal lives on through his cherished family and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. His vibrant spirit, enthusiasm for life, and deep commitment to those he loved will be profoundly missed.
