Pamela Denise Calimee

December 23, 1963 — October 16, 2025

Pamela Denise Calimee, 61 of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully At St. Joseph Hospital on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Born in Charleston, Missouri, December 23,1963, Pamela was the beloved daughter of the late Rose Lee (John H.) Taylor and Bobby Joe Scott. Pamela and her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois, when she was a child. A gifted student, Pamela was a standout in the Chicago Public School system and a proud graduate of Frederick High School. Pamela quickly transitioned to building her own family. She was first blessed with her daughters, Ebony Howard, and Erykah Howard and became the wife of Gerald Allen Calimee Sr. on March 7, 1986. Jarrell Alexander Howard and Gerald Allen Calimee Jr. (Judah) sealed the family.

Pamela dedicated her life to her children, cherishing her role as a mother. She read bedtime stories and felt it was important for her children to have open dialogs with her. She called this circle time where she let each child vent and talk about their feelings. She had real life conversations with her children and didn't sugar coat it. Pamela accepted Christ into her life through the prayer partnership she had with her Aunt Johnnie M. Trainer. From this partnership Pamela became a prayer warrior that prayed prayers that you knew touched the heavens. When she prayed for you peace was felt and you knew God would move on your behalf. Pamela became a fervent student of God's word. Whatever was ailing you in life Pamela knew the scripture to lead you to for the Lord to answer your prayer or to see you through. Pamela was also a jack of all trades; she was a published author and had the talent to draw whatever was in front of her. Pamela loved to garden and most of all she loved fashion and shopping. Pamela worked as a teacher's aide and later became a caregiver. She had no problems being of service to others.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose Lee (John)Taylor and Bobby Joe Scott. Maternal grandparents (Thommy Lee & Sadie Lee Howard) Paternal (Eugene & Johnnie Scott) and daughter Erykah Howard.

Pamela's memory will be forever cherished by her loving children: Ebony Howard (Shorewood, IL),) Jejuan Hatch (Chicago, IL), Shanetta Mcintee (Chicago, IL), Jarrell Howard (Joliet, IL), and Judah Calimee (Joliet, IL) and Matthew Calimee (Harvey IL). Uncle Otha Lee (Rozena)Howard (Charleston Missouri.) Aunt Betsy Howard (Calumet IL) Aunt Ollie Howard (Buffalo NY) Aunt Alease Howard ( St. Louis Missouri) Aunt Rosie Scott (Markham IL) Aunt Johnnie M.Trainer (Chicago Heights IL) Uncle Ray Scott ( Chicago IL) Uncle Marshal Rodger (Evanston IL)Charles Scott (Charleston Missouri). She was a devoted grandmother to Sydnie McGhee, Christian Calimee, and Micah Howard, and a beloved figure to a host of bonus grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members Fredrick Barnes and special friend Alphonso Mack. She had sister friends and Prayer Partners that she confided in and that labored with her in prayer over the years. Patricia Howard, Evelyn Thornton Allen, Sonya Gwin, Penny Armstrong, Vivian Foster, Phyllis Aberathy Paula Thomas, Debra Horton, Debra Townsend. Pamela’s life was a testament to strength, faith, and unconditional love.

She poured her heart into her family, her prayers, and every soul she encountered. To know Pamela was to be touched by her warmth, her honesty, and her unwavering belief in God’s power. Her words could comfort, her laughter could brighten a room, and her prayers could move mountains. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched. Pamela’s journey of faith is complete. Her faithful walk has led her home, where her spirit is free and her work is done. May we carry forward her light, her love, and her legacy—forever in our hearts.
