Pamela S. Nuñez

Pamela S. Nuñez, age 59 of Joliet, passed away after a brief illness at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL on May 7, 2025. She was born in Valparaiso, IN to her parents Leo and Sharon (nee Sipich) Parkhurst on October 25, 1965.

Pam was born in Indiana, but spent most of her youth in Wisconsin before moving to the Joliet area at the age of fifteen where she attended Joliet Central High School. She worked hard in her life to help provide for her family, most recently retiring as Building Supervisor for the Joliet Park District after ten years of service. Pam met her husband Santos at a local laundromat when he followed her outside to let her know that she had left behind some of her items. His kindness and concern for her sparked her interest, and the two fell in love and raised a wonderful family together. She was a dedicated and devoted mother to her children, and absolutely adored her “Grammy Pammy’s Babies” (her grandchildren). She was always adamant that her family make time for each other, and Thursdays were always set aside for family days. Pam enjoyed cooking for holiday gatherings for as long as her health allowed. She loved to listen to her music, and watch her favorite entertainers on television. She had a special place in her heart for Daryl Dixon of The Walking Dead. Her family will continue to honor their tradition of family Thursdays, as they know she would have wanted.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Sharon Parkhurst.

Pam is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Santos Nuñez, her son Santos Nuñez, her daughter Vanessa (Tomas) Guerra, her son Robert Nuñez, her grandchildren; Larissa Guerra, Julian Nuñez, Destiny Nuñez, Kayla Guerra, Jay Nuñez, and Tomas Ethan Guerra, her siblings; Judy Anderson, Michelle Trujillio, David White, Dennis White, and Angel Garcia. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and other loved ones also survive.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Monday May 12, 2025 from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a chapel service including an opportunity for a Sharing of Memories at 6:30 pm at Tezak’s Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL 60435. Cremation rites will be accorded following the Visitation and Pam’s remains will be held in the protective custody of her husband and family.
