In Loving Memory of Paul F. Toth “Sonny”, passed May 17, 2026 surrounded by his loving family with the sun on his face, which he loved so much, at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, IL.
A lifelong resident and Pillar of the Joliet Community, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and a lifetime of kindness that touched many.
Paul grew up witnessing the evolution of his hometown. He was a skilled mechanic and became the proud owner of Fitzhenry gas station. To Paul, the station was more than a business; it was a way to serve. Known for his immense generosity, he frequently provided free mechanical work for neighbors in need, ensuring that those in his community were never left stranded. His dedication to his work was surpassed only by his dedication to the people around him.
Preceded in death by his sisters Mary Jansen, Julie Haake, Elizabeth Bick, and Helen Sapp
Paul’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Bonnie Toth; and his children Paul Toth, Penny Giacomi, Tom (Yvette) Toth, and Tim Toth; and his loving sister Irene Miller.
He also leaves behind his devoted legacy to grandchildren Dr. Mark (Kyla), Matthew (Julie), and Michael (Lauren) Giacomi, and Kristen, Paul III and Nicholas Toth, great grandchildren Dominic, Joey, Mila, Vivanna, Luca and Gino Giacomi; as well as step-grandchildren David, Devon and Dillon Pacheco.
Always in his heart, Jacque Toth
His influence and values live on through his children and their families, who remain a tight-knit presence in the community he called home for over nine decades.
His wisdom, his presence, and the stories of a life well-lived will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and the many neighbors he helped throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that any donations offered in Paul’s name be directed to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care at https://lightways.org/donate/ .
