Philip A. Danca, age 89 of Plainfield, IL formerly of Garfield Ridge neighborhood of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 14, 2025, at his home in Plainfield, IL. He was born June 2, 1936, in Chicago, IL to his loving late parents, Ignazio and Sebastiana Danca.
He was the loving husband of Celena Danca (née Hurr) for sixty-three years. Beloved father of Susan (Philip) Hinton and Michael (Lidia) Danca. Adored grandfather of Raquel (Matt) Ratleph, Jenna (fiancé David Kornfeind) Hinton, Lauren (Garrett) Black, Sarah (Josiah) Flex, Nicholas (Jenny) Hinton, Angela (Niko) Hayes, and Gina Danca. Loving great-grandfather of seven. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Many other extended family members, friends, and loved ones too numerous to name also survive.
He was the dearest brother of the late Anna (Joseph), Sam (Stella), Tony (Lucille), John and Joseph.
Philip proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was stationed in Alaska for the majority of his service and he earned a Good Conduct Medal while enlisted. After his military career ended, he started a career as a barber and eventually transitioned into becoming a fireman for the Bedford Park Fire Department, where he proudly served the community until 1996. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, enjoyed playing in a golf league (he shot a hole-in-one at Gleneagles Country Club in Lemont, IL), was blessed to have taken a once in a lifetime trip to Italy, and spent his free time watching the Chicago White Sox and televised golf events.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Suncrest Hospice, 777 Oakmont Lane #1400, Westmont, IL 60559 in Philip’s name, would be welcomed by the family.
An Interment Committal Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday July 18, 2025 at 10:00 am at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421. All guests are asked to arrive at the cemetery no later than 9:45 am for the 10:00 am start.
