Phyllis T. Binzen (née Wruk), age 89, at rest on Monday July 14, 2025 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved daughter Pamela Simpson; dearest grandchildren Dominick (Michelle) Chellino III and Brieanna (Phil Moy) Chellino; six great-grandchildren Dominick IV, Luca, Lincoln, Philip, Jordan and Dillon; her special niece Patricia Walker and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband William Binzen (2012); her parents Walter and Mary (née Baudek) Wruk; grandson Ryan Simpson (2003); sisters Eleanor Kernc, Bernice Meditz, Dolores Elias and Rosemary Darling.

Phyllis was born and raised in Joliet and was a graduate of Providence Catholic High School. She held jobs at Montgomery Ward and Al Baskin in the receiving department. She had a passion for baking and was known in the community for her potica that she made and sold around the holidays. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow and loved making their intricate Halloween costumes.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at Sunny Hill Nursing home and specifically Simon, Irish and Vanessa along with much gratitude to Lightways Hospice for the compassionate care provided by Greta and Colleen.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County, 421 Doris Ave. Joliet, IL 60433 and/or Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 in Phyllis' name would be appreciated.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago St., Joliet, IL 60432 on Tuesday July 29, 2025 at 10:00 am. Immediately following Mass, we will travel in procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421 where Phyllis will rejoin her husband William after an Inurnment Committal Service. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
