Richard Thomas Greskoviak Jr., 61, of Shorewood, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Richard (Rich) was born on November 21, 1963, in Burlington, WI, and grew up in Elmwood Park, IL, attending Elmwood Park High School. He spent his summers with extended family in Twin Lakes, WI where he loved to fish and swim. He earned his Bachelor's Degree at DePaul University in Chicago, IL, after which he worked at West Suburban Medical Center, Oak Park, IL; St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, IL; Presence Medical Group, Bolingbrook, IL; and Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, IL.
He married Karen Hochstadter on October 17th, 1992. After living in Forest Park, IL, and Elgin, IL, they settled in Shorewood where they raised their three children: Kathryn, Rebecca, and Jared.
Richard was a selfless family man, dedicating years of his life to his wife and children, with whom he enjoyed fishing, grilling and spending time together. He was known among his loved ones for his joyous sense of humor and a rigorous work ethic.
He is survived by his wife Karen; his children, Kathryn (Dayton) Hamann, Rebecca (Alexander Streck) Greskoviak, and Jared (Brooklyn Lovelass) Greskoviak; his mother Theresa Greskoviak; his sister Elisabeth Greskoviak Murgas; his brother Joseph (Michele) Greskoviak; his nephew Joseph (Chrissy) Greskoviak; his nephew Andrew (Annie) Greskoviak; his niece Cassidy Greskoviak; his aunt Mary Ann Principe; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his dog, Vader. Richard was preceded in death by his father Richard Sr., mother-in-law Susan Hochstadter; and other aunts and uncles, as well as his parrot, Polly.
Richard will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His persistent wit, hardworking nature, and endless kindness will be carried on by his loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL.
Chapel services with words of remembrance will begin at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow in accordance with his wishes.
