Richard John Thomas Sr.

Richard John Thomas Sr, 73, of Crest Hill, IL entered into eternal peace on January 21, 2022.

A U.S. Army Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran Richard retired from Lucent Technologies as manager of Research and Development. He was a DeVry graduate.

Rich was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan, loved to go out dancing with his wife and had a talent to fix anything. He also had a passion to work with computers and electronics.

He was a caring, devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Preceded in death by his parents John and Mary (Faynik) Thomas.

Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife, Susan (Mailfald) Thomas; three children, Richard Thomas Jr.,  John (Corlin) Thomas, and Sandi (Anthony) Corniel; Step-children, Sharyn (Hector) Luevano, Teri (Chris) Lillard, Amy Fluder, Joseph (Shannon) Fluder III, Jon (Heidi) Fluder; and one sister, Jeanette (Robert) Sheffield. Dear Papa of Jackson and Lennox Thomas and many step-grandchildren. Uncle to Eric Sheffield, Andrea (Zach) Sounhein, and Michael Sheffield.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.  The funeral procession will meet at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Thursday, January 27, 2022 for a 1:00 p.m. funeral service with military honors.
