Obituary

Robert G. Christensen, age 48 of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully in the warm embrace of his loving family at Serenity Estates of Morris, IL on October 8, 2026. Robert was born in Joliet on January 9, 1978 to his father Rodger Christensen and mother Donna Sue Christensen (née Hall).

Robert attended Reddick Elementary school before graduating from Hersher High School. After graduation, he went on to study fire sciences in college before dedicating his life to fire fighting. Outside of his family, being a Fireman was his heart and soul. He served Illinois communities for over thirty years, including the Reddick Fire Protection District, the Gardner Fire Department, and the Dwight Fire Protection District. Robert was a dedicated family man who loved caring for and spending time with his many family and friends. He also enjoyed time spent farming, hunting, and fishing throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rodger and Donna Sue.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Sara Christensen (née Littlejohn); his beloved son Logan Christensen; his siblings Christina (Greg) Eddington, Richard (Tracy) Christensen and Lori (the late Joe) Cora; and his nieces Katelyn (Bradley) Swank, Allyson and Adriene Eddington, Michaela (Matt Johnson) and Alana Phillips, and AnnMarie Cora; as well as his great niece Kennedy and great nephews Macklan and Merrick. Numerous extended family members, friends, colleagues, and loved ones also survive.

In lieu of flowers, donations offered in Robert’s name should be directed to either Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness care in Joliet, the Reddick Fire Department, and/or the Dwight Fire Department.

In line with Robert’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and his remains will reside in the protective custody of his loving family. A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
