Age 78, at rest Thursday August 28,2008 at his home.
Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lillian (nee Olszta) Surges; loving father of two daughters, Therese Surges and Mary (Bob) Furst; and two sons, Robert (Donna) Surges and Michael (Kim) Surges; dearest grandfather of four grandsons, Trevor, Nicholas, Matthew, and Connor; one granddaughter, Ashley Jo Surges; six brothers, Tom (Delores deceased), Clarence Jr. (Carol), James (Trudy), Jerry, John (Carol), Joey (Maria) Surges; four sisters, Joan (Ralph) Richmond, Janette (Ralph) Denewellis, Joyce (Tom) Gajcak, and Jackie Surges; brother-in-law, Frank (Judy deceased) Schoener; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Neva and Clarence Surges; one sister, Judy Schoener; and one brother, Don P. Surges. Robert was born in Joliet resided in Lockport for the last 37 years. He retired as a truck driver for Pilcher Paper Co. after 33 years of service, was a Veteran U.S Army Korean War and was a member of the Teamsters.

Prayer services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 am then to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 9:00 until time of service at the funeral home.
