Rose B. Stoiber

April 2, 1935 — March 2, 2024

Rose Bernice Stoiber, 88, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother.

Born April 2, 1935, to George and Evelyn Pavich, she was a lifelong resident of Joliet. Rose attended St. Mary Nativity grade school and Joliet Township High School. She met the love of her life, Francis R. "Otts" Stoiber, Jr., who she married in April of 1960 in Joliet, Illinois. They were together for 47 years, until Otts' passing on May 28, 2007.

Rose loved her family and friends and was a devoted Catholic and caregiver. She worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide at Our Lady of Angels Retirement home in Joliet for over 20 years and from where she later volunteered her services. Rose regularly attended mass, participated in parish activities, and volunteered at St. Mary Nativity Church.

Rose will be remembered for her love, kindness, and laughter which she readily shared with family, friends, and new acquaintances. She was consistently gracious and appreciative of every day. Never shy of hosting a party, she frequently cooked for and entertained guests at home with Otts, where she always brought joy to her guests with her bubbly personality and by serving treats like her beloved potica.

Rose is the loving mother of two children, Sally (Tim) Kisla, and Roger (Deborah) Stoiber, and the cherished grandmother of Meredith, Bennett, and Timothy Kisla, Jr., and Ava Stoiber. She is also survived by her sister, Ann (Pavich) Blinstrup and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn Pavich, her son Thomas Allen, her husband, Francis R. "Otts" Stoiber, Jr., brothers Lou and George Pavich, sisters Mary (Pavich) Gibson, and Catherine (Pavich) Glad and infant sister.

Rose’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, therapists, aides and staff at Lightways Hospice, Silver Cross Hospital and Willow Falls Senior Living for the care and assistance they provided to Rose and her family.

All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Rose's life on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at St. Mary Nativity Church nativity room, 706 N. Broadway, Joliet, IL, for visitation. Mass of Christian burial to take place at 10:00 am shortly after. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity cemetery, in Crest Hill where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Otts.
