Sophie K. (Matkovic) Kolakowski
July 18, 1924 — May 8, 2017
Sophie K. Kolakowski (nee Matkovic), age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Presence Villa Franciscan.
Sophie is survived by her loving daughter, Kay Kolakowski; her sisters, Lorraine (late Joseph) Belom, Jeanne (Kenneth) Kowall and sisters-in-law, Pat Matkovic and Joyce Matkovic. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Marion J. Kolakowski; parents Joseph, Sr., and Katherine (Kocevar) Matkovic and two brothers Joseph Matkovic Jr. and Raymond Matkovic.
Sophie was born in Joliet, a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School and a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Presence Villa Franciscan for the care provided to Sophie during her stay.
A celebration of Sophie’s life will begin on Thursday, May 11, 2017 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet at 10:00 a.m. All relatives and friends will meet at the church. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
There will be no services at the funeral home.
