Thomas J. Kompare

Thomas J. Kompare, age 83 of Joliet, IL, passed away after an extended illness at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL on October 9, 2026. He was born to his father Joseph Kompare and his mother Katherine Kompare (née Padley) in Joliet, IL on October 7, 1943.

Tom graduated from Joliet Township High School as a member of the Class of 1961, before continuing his education at Lewis University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He was a devoted lifelong member of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church of America. Tom spent his career as a commercial pilot for Braniff Airlines and Kitty Hawk Air Cargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Katherine Kompare.

Tom is survived by numerous cousins and many close friends, with special mention of his dear friends Peg and Jim Marchio and Mike and Stephanie Hart who provided so much support for Tom during the late stages of his life. He is also survived by his goddaughters Erin Cameron and Lorin Kraeling.

In line with Tom’s stated wishes, he will be laid to rest after a graveside committal service at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
