Thomas Joseph Prieboy

April 9, 1950 — February 10, 2026

Thomas Prieboy, age 75, died suddenly at his home Tuesday, February 10, 2026. As a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, his life was a beautiful testament to his faith, devotion to his family, and the love in his heart.

Born in Joliet, IL on April 9, 1950 to Joseph and Anna Prieboy, Tom attended St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Grammar School and Providence Catholic High School. He was an exceptional athlete in both basketball and in soccer and participated in one of the biggest upsets in Illinois high school basketball history defeating the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers in the 1st round of the State basketball playoffs. Tom went on to graduate from the University of Illinois with a degree in civil engineering followed by an MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Tom was employed by the Commonwealth Edison Company which was involved with the construction of the LaSalle County Nuclear Generating Station and with modernization of the energy chain in other facilities.

Tom always enjoyed any outdoor activity including fishing, biking, golfing, and attending local concert events. In his younger years, Tom and his brothers enjoyed fishing getaways to the Hayward Lakes region of Wisconsin in search of the elusive trophy catch. Tom landed many official keepers during his pursuit but always had tales of the many that got away. Growing up, he also enjoyed many years of family gatherings with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins from Indiana. Tom had an exceptional interest in golf, always adjusting his swing and clubs for the next round.

In recent years, Tom took on the relentless role as the primary caregiver for his mother, Anna, as her needs increased with age. Tom’s dedication was nothing less than divine intervention for the love and care he provided, and he did so with great joy.

Thomas is survived by his mother Anna, brothers Joseph (Jean) and Mark (Colleen), along with nephews and nieces Joe (Julie), Michelle, Audrey, Katelyn, and Jennifer as well as grand nephews and nieces Luc, Grace, and Benjamin.

Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved father, Joseph Prieboy.
