Troy E. Vacherlon of Joliet, age 50, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2024. He was born to Edward and Pauline (nee Collins) Vacherlon in Berwyn, IL on October 17, 1973.
As a young man, Troy's love for the outdoors was fostered through yearly fishing trips with his grandfather and father, using fishing poles they had handcrafted themselves. Troy was fearless when it came to speed. He loved to race cars, ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and conquer roller coasters—the higher and faster, the better.
Troy was educated as a Stationary Engineer, and he worked as a Maintenance Specialist for the Plainfield School District 202. He was also a longtime Union Representative for the district and even served as Union President for five years. As much as he enjoyed his work and hobbies, nothing was more important to Troy than taking trips and spending time with his friends and family. He loved to be surrounded by the people who brought him so much joy throughout his life.
Troy’s faith in God guided his actions and shaped his character. He was generous, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support to those in need. Above all, Troy cherished his family. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, dad, and grandpa-peepaw. The void he leaves will never be filled, but the love he shared will never be diminished.
Troy is survived by his parents Edward and Pauline, his devoted wife Deborah (nee Patterson) Vacherlon, and his children Kathryn McQuen, Jacob (Olivia) Shoffner, and Logan and Tyler Vacherlon. Troy is also survived by his grandchildren, Jonah, Lucas, Liliana, Xander, Sophia, and Colson, his dear sister Patricia Leeper, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, any donations made to the family would be appreciated.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm with a Chapel Service at 1:15 pm at Tezak’s Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL. Following the visitation, cremation rites will be accorded per Troy’s wishes.
John 11:25-26
