Vicente Paramo

Vicente Paramo was born on January 21, 1939, in Cuitzeo Michoacan, Mexico. He lived a life defined by love, sacrifice, hard work, and devotion to family.

He met and married the love of his life, Victoria, and together they shared 64 years of marriage. As a young couple with a growing family, they made the courageous decision to leave their familiar surroundings in Mexico to seek a better life for their children. Through determination and perseverance, they established their roots in Joliet, Illinois, where Vicente worked tirelessly at Vulcan Materials Company for 28 years to provide for his family and created a strong foundation for future generations. He was also a proud member of Local Labor 681.

Known to many as “Chente” or “Paramo,” he was most affectionately known as Papa Vicente. He loved cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs watching classic films, listening to the music of his favorite Mexican artists, and always cherished his visits to what he called his second home-Cuautitlán and the rancho in Cuamio, Michoacán. He was a life long member of Our Lady of Mont Carmel Catholic Church.

Vicente was preceded in death by his son, Gerardo; daughter, Joaquina; his mother Celsa and his only sister Leonor (Manuel) and in-laws; Luis M. and Herlinda O.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Victoria; his children Hector (Venus), Manuela Botello (Juan M.), Maricela (Joe), Rosalba (Oscar), Marco Antonio, Pedro (Laura), Vicente Jr. (Karen), and Lucia (Michael); two brothers; Eleazar Lopez (Adela), Pablo Lopez (Juana); 16 grandchildren; Brandon A., Stephanie Y., Ashley H., Alexandria (Matthew), Danielle ( Conner), Quetzal (lan), Kevin, Joaquína, Marco Antonio Jr., Santana, Sofia, Michael, Gerardo, Eliana, Julian (Maliah) and Marcellus; two great-grandchildren; Celeste, Luka and one on the way; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Vicente Paramo will be remembered for his strength, humility, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the sacrifices he made, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so freely to all who knew him.

This is not a goodbye, but we'll see you later, Pa!

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 205 E. Jackson Street, Joliet, Illinois. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois.

Vicente Páramo nació el 21 de Enero de 1939 en Cuitzeo, Michoacán, México. Vivió una vida definida por el amor, el sacrificio, el trabajo arduo y la devoción a la familia.

Conoció y se casó con el amor de su vida, Victoria, y juntos compartieron 64 años de matrimonio. Como una pareja joven con una familia en crecimiento, tomaron la valiente decisión de dejar su entorno familiar en México para buscar una vida mejor para sus hijos. Con determinación y perseverancia, establecieron sus raíces en Joliet, Illinois, donde Vicente trabajó incansablemente en Vulcan Materials Company durante 28 años para proveer a su familia y crear una base sólida para las futuras generaciones. También fue un orgulloso miembro del Local Labor 681.

Conocido por muchos como “Chente” o “Páramo”, era conocido con mayor cariño como Papá Vicente. Le encantaba animar a sus queridos Chicago Cubs, ver películas clásicas, escuchar la música de sus artistas mexicanos favoritos y siempre atesoró sus visitas a lo que llamaba su segundo hogar: Cuautitlán y el rancho en Cuamio, Michoacán. Fue miembro de toda la vida de la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo.

Vicente fue precedido en la muerte por su hijo Gerardo; su hija Joaquina; su madre Celsa; su única hermana Leonor (Manuel); y sus suegros, Luis M. y Herlinda O.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa de 64 años, Victoria; sus hijos Héctor (Venus), Manuela Botello (Juan M.), Maricela (Joe), Rosalba (Oscar), Marco Antonio, Pedro (Laura), Vicente Jr. (Karen) y Lucía (Michael); dos hermanos, Eleazar López (Adela) y Pablo López (Juana); 16 nietos: Brandon A., Stephanie Y., Ashley H., Alexandria (Matthew), Danielle (Conner), Quetzal (Ian), Kevin, Joaquina, Marco Antonio Jr., Santana, Sofía, Michael, Gerardo, Eliana, Julián  (Maliah) y Marcellus; dos bisnietos, Celeste y Luka, y uno más en camino; así como numerosos familiares y amigos.

Vicente Páramo será recordado por su fortaleza, humildad y devoción inquebrantable a su familia. Su legado vive en los sacrificios que hizo, los valores que inculcó y el amor que brindó tan generosamente a todos los que lo conocieron.

Esto no es un adiós, sino un hasta luego. ¡Nos vemos después, Pa!

La velación se llevará a cabo el Viernes 16 de Enero de 2026, de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., en Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, Illinois.

La Misa se celebrará el Sábado 17 de Enero de 2026 a las 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, 205 E. Jackson Street, Joliet, Illinois. El sepelio se realizará posteriormente en Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois.
