Obituary

Alan George Toth, age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2023 from bile duct cancer at home with his family by his side.

Al was born on June 8, 1957 in Joliet to George and Elsie (nee Pucel) Toth. He graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School. Al was employed by Commonwealth Edison and Midwest Generation in Joliet and retired after 35 years of service. Working there, he met many incredible people and sincerely treasured their friendships. He was also a long time member of KSKJ Lodge #108.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 36 years,: Patricia (nee McAsey); his devoted sons: Corey, Brandon and Justin (Maggie Myles) who he loved more than anything; his cherished grand dog: Peggy, who brought so much joy and happiness into his life and always put a smile on his face; his sister: Deborah (John) Maline and family; brother-in-law: James (Ellen) McAsey and family; sisters-in-law: Mary (Rodger) Parsons and Lynn (Dave) Johnston and family; and many dear aunts, cousins and friends.

Al is preceded in death by his parents: George and Elsie and mother and father in-law: James and Mary McAsey, and numerous other family and friends.

In his spare time, Al restored vintage motorbikes (namely Whizzer and Doodlebugs) and enjoyed every minute spent working on them. Assisting others to repair and renew their bikes was particularly meaningful to him. Many wonderful and valued friends were gained through his hobby. Al was a proud member of The Vintage Motorbike Club of America, The Doodlebug Club of America and the local Whizzer Motorbike group & newsletter. He genuinely prized every meet (especially Portland, IN), show, picnic and breakfast he attended through these organizations.

A heartfelt thank you to Jen, his nurse from Lightways Hospice, who took such loving care of Al during his final weeks at home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Al’s memory to Lightways Hospice Care.

Per Alan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A private service will be held at a later date and Al will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
