Berto Arteaga

Age 73 of Crest Hill, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Born September 16, 1947 in Tunguitiro Michoacan, Mexico, he was a son of Amador and Glafira (Torres) Arteaga. Berto was a devoted man who dedicated his life to provide for his family. He worked most of his life in the steel industry as a heavy machine operator. Berto loved spending time with his grandchildren: Johnathan, Jazmin, Adriana, Armando, Anthony, Eric, Donovan, Roman and Julian. He also enjoyed going on vacations with his wife, Maria and traveling across the country by car. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Berto is survived by his beloved wife: Maria Arteaga; mother: Glafira Arteaga; sons: Javier, Heriberto, Enrique and Armando Arteaga; his adored grandchildren; siblings: Rosario, Alicia, Samuel, Margarito, Audelio, Gloria, Maria and Maria de Jesus, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father: Amador Arteaga, and his brothers: Efrain Arteaga and Roberto Enrique Arteaga.

A private family service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. Anybody wishing to attend via livestream are encouraged to do so. The link to attend is included on Berto’s obituary page.

Per Berto’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following services and Berto will be laid to rest back in Mexico at a later date.
