Charlene A. (Sanford) Pool

September 19, 1948 — July 26, 2018

Charlene A. Pool (nee Sanford), Age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Born September 19, 1948 in Streator, IL, she was the daughter of Charles and Lavon Sanford (nee Stevenson) and attended St. Francis Academy.

Char was a lifelong resident of Crest Hill, as well as, an active member and parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church and Grade School, serving the students in several capacities. She especially loved attending daily mass with her church group friends.

Faith and Family were the cornerstones of Char’s life, especially her love for her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. She also had a special relationship with the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed her Rosary daily and faithfully.

Char was a very talented and creative woman. She made beautiful crafts and wreaths which will always be treasured by many.

Char was a big fan of the University of Notre Dame, especially the Grotto, where she could offer up her prayers and intentions to Mary our Mother.

Char served at Cemeno’s Pizza for her dear friends, Joe and Jan Cemeno, for 26 years. She loved her job, her co-workers, and especially, her regular customers whom she would regularly visit with after her shift was over.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Charles (Elaine) Pool, Chris (Kim) Pool, Susan (Rick) Baker, Amy (Tom) Zazzetti, Jake Pool, Megan Pool, and Amber (Dave) Tabor; 17 grandchildren, Kayla, Haley, Kelli, Miranda, Konnor, Keaton, TJ, Jerry Noah, Abby, Jesse, Jagger, Johanna, Brooklyn and Braelyn; three great- grandchildren, Cheyanne, Aubriella and Claire; four sisters, Sandie (the late Ronald) Spisak, Cheryl (Paul) Pullara, Donna (Dave) Hanus and Diane Sanford; one brother, Tom Sanford.

Also surviving are dear friends, Jean Rohder, Carol Heredia, Ruth Kinzler, Bette McBride, Roberta Kapinus, Christine Boban, Carrie Bernickus, Annette Buss and Val Jelinek.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Jerry Pool (January 31, 2010), her parents; one sister, Marie Rothamel; dear friend, Donna Raub and her mentor, Jan Cemeno.

Char fought a courageous 8-month battle with several illnesses and the family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Tri-Star Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN, as well as, the doctors and nurses at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN, most notably Dr. Cary Pulliam, Char’s vascular surgeon.
