Charles Edward Nielsen Sr. “Papa,” age 78, at rest on Friday, November 01, 2019.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of  57 years, Marilyn (nee Sterioti); children, Sandra (Tom) Studer, Candace (Joe) Porras, Charles Jr. (Mellany Miller) and Clifford Nielsen; grandchildren, Kristen Studer, Valarie (David) Darin, Katie Porras; great-grandchildren, Bradlee Ella Hartigan, Gavin Joseph Darin and Hayden Jeanette Darin; siblings, Lorraine (the late Herb) Moody and Andrew (Karen) Nielsen; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Catherine (nee Schenelle) Nielsen; brother, Chris Nielsen.

Charles greatly enjoyed building models, woodworking and working on old cars. He was an excellent mechanic with the ability to fix anything. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and dear family who will truly miss him.

A celebration of Charles’ life will begin on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.
