Charles “Chuck” Ewing, Jr.

Age 69 of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at his home.

Born March 15, 1950 in Peru, Illinois, Charles Richard was a son of Charles, Sr. and Lois (Rettko) Ewing. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet West High School with the class of 1968.  After graduation, Chuck proudly served in the United States Army. Following his time in the service, Chuck went in to restaurant management, but that was just a source of income for him. Chuck’s main passion and true calling was music. He was a founding member and the lead singer of The Five After Band who was popular in the Joliet area and surrounding communities. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Chuck’s pride and joy were his daughters and grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters: Jessica (Mike) Taylor and Christine (David) Dearth; grandchildren: Magdalena Dearth, Benjamin Ewing and Nathaniel Dearth; brothers: David (Jeanne) Ewing, Paul Ewing, Bill (Joyce) Ewing and Daniel Ewing; sister: Elizabeth (Rick) Abell; longtime friend: Nancy Ferro-Sulzer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr. and Lois Ewing.

Per Chuck’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A celebration of Chuck's life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m at the the Joliet Moose Lodge, 25 Springfield Avenue in Joliet.
