Clara M. Schultz

Clara M. Schultz, age 88 of Joliet, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Senior Star at Weber Place in Romeoville, Illinois with her loving family by her side. She was a lifetime Joliet resident.

Born July 25th, 1932 in Joliet, Illinois, Clara was the daughter of Arthur & Margaret (nee Byrne) Schultz. She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Township High School. Clara worked and retired from Illinois Bell after 38 years.  Clara was an avid member of the St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Joliet and volunteered as a Eucharistic minister. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Rialto Square Theatre where she was named volunteer of the year in 2004, and Provena St Joseph Hospital.

Survived by her sister-in-law: Frances Schultz and her five nieces & nephews: Debbie (Richard) Fonck, Nancy (Steve) Voots, Artie Schultz, Danny (Sue) Schultz, Mike Schultz, and Nancy Schultz.

She is also survived by her seven grand-nieces and nephews: Rick Fonck, Rachel (Mike) Johnston, Max (Tiffany) Voots, Samantha (Corey) Archey, Mark (Chloe) Schultz, Brett & Maggie Schultz, and numerous great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Art and Margaret (nee Byrne) Schultz, brother: late Mayor Arthur Schultz, and grand-nephew: Arthur Joseph Schultz Jr, and grand-nieces: Jennifer Ann & Sarah Margaret Voots.

Clara was never married but she treated her nieces and nephews like her own loving children. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day and her favorite saying was “How ya do” always making those around her smile.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue in Joliet. A private interment will follow and Clara will be laid to rest in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Romeoville. Masks and social distancing practices are required.

Memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Clara’s memory to United Cerebral Palsy School in Joliet, JOHA Foundation, and the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
