David L. Morelli

David Lee Morelli, age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia (nee Hankovcak) Morelli; children, Maureen (Jim) Trizna and Denise (Tom) Bell; grandchildren, Adriana and Matthew Trizna and Ryan and Rachel Bell; siblings, Richard (Sharon) Morelli, Nancy Costello and James (Karen) Morelli; brother-in-law, John (Cindy) Hankovcak; sister-in-law, Geradette (the late John) Russ; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ann (nee Burcenski) Morelli; parents-in-law, John and Mathilda Hankovcak.

David worked for US Steel and Commonwealth Edison. After his retirement he continued to work for Arena Auto Auction and strongly believed in continuing to work hard. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. David was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet. He greatly enjoyed fishing, especially his trips to Canada and Lake Eire. David was a member of the Purple Martin Society, where another one of his true passions was caring for the birds. David enjoyed spending winters in Siesta Key with his wife Patricia. He loved his family and grandchildren unconditionally and will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of David’s caregivers at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center that provided him comfort and care throughout the years.

A celebration of David’s life will begin on Thursday, August 30, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
