Dolores L. (Chrzanowski) Ambrozich

Dolores L. Ambrozich “Mrs. Spike,” age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 1, 2021.

Dolores is survived by her children, Edward Ambrozich, Jr. “Skeeter” (Kathryn) Ambrozich and Linda (Donald) Jeffrey; grandchildren, Stacy (Brian Rowell) Ambrozich, Kara Sammet and Stacey (Rob) Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Bode Meyer and Riley Whitaker; sister-in-law, Dolores “Smitty” (the late Joseph) Ambrozich; five guardian angels, Bonnie Gerretti, Sandy Gregorash, Mark Hotuyec, Sue DelSasso and Jan Swank; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Edward C. “Spike” Ambrozich Sr. (1-23-2006); father, John Chrzanowski; mother, Louise (Hotuyec) Koenig; and step-father, John Koenig.

Mrs. Spike was a proud and faithful member and volunteer of the Croatian Cultural Club, Cantigny Post #367, American Legion Post #1080, KSKJ St. Genevieve Lodge #108 (past president for over 20 years), St. Francis #29, a former volunteer at Joliet Area Community Hospice, money counter at St. Joseph Church, the Slovenian Union of America, St. Joseph Senior Parishioners (Sunshine Chair), Senior Citizen Association, the Joliet Moose Seniors and St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society. Dolores was known to be seen at the Croatian Cultural Club working the cash register for fish fries and organizing the Euchre games.

In lieu of flowers, Dolores requested donations be sent to: The Croatian Cultural Club of Joliet or Lightways Hospice (formerly Joliet Area Community Hospice).

A celebration of Dolores’ life will begin on Friday, October 15, 2021 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Prayers will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 16, 2021at 9:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.
