Donald C. Karcz, Sr., born March 19, 1947, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Medical Center on Thursday, May 27, 2021 with his family at his side. Survived by 4 sons, Don Jr. (Danielle), Chris, Adam (Charity), Nick (SuLien Tu) Karcz, 1 brother Dan (Eva) Karcz, 2 sisters, Terry (late Gary) Pauson, Elaine (late Michael) (Bob) Melhorn. 3 grandchildren, Donald III (Rebecca), Justin and William Karcz. Preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Marcella (Kunke) Karcz and his wife Jessica. Born in Joliet he was a lifelong resident. A highly respected Joliet Police Officer for 36 yrs. retiring in 2004, football coach for St. Jude's School from 1983 to 1995. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #300, Polish National Alliance (PNA) and the I.O.F. A lifetime member of ISRA and NRA. Don loved to tell bad Dad jokes and loved fishing, hunting and a cheap cigar. A celebration of Don's life will begin Friday June 4, 2021 at 9:15 am at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL. to St. Jude's Catholic Church (Joliet) for a Mass of Christian Burial. According to his wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice (formerly Joliet Area Community Hospice) in Don's name would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
