Florence D. Goron

January 28, 1928 — July 17, 2021

Florence D. Goron, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17 2021, at Our Lady of Angels in Joliet, with her two loving nieces by her side. Florence was born January 28, 1928 to Gabriel and Catherine (Smith) Goron in Joliet. The youngest of 9 children Florence, her brothers, and sisters were all very close through their lives. Growing up on the east side of town the family were lifetime members of St. Thaddeus Church where Florence graduated. Florence continued through her adult years to be a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Thaddeus until the church's closing. After graduating from Joliet Township High School, she began working at Olin Chemical (formerly Blockson Chemical) in the Sales Office as the Office Manager and retired after 35 years of service.

Florence loved traveling; she visited, the orient, Europe, Denmark, Hawaii, Florida, Maine and Las Vegas. Florence enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, as well as being an avid reader and enjoyed being a Cubs Fan.

Florence was always a loving and kindhearted person. Her family meant the world to her and she to them. She will truly be missed by all those who knew Florence.

Florence is survived by her brother, Raymond (Dolores) Goron. Several nieces and nephews whom she was extremely closed to: Judy (the late Jim) Tomasino, Clare (John) Srncik, Carolyn (Paul) Mastrangeli, Nancy (Tom) Horsley, Joyce (Jack) Fremeau, Kim (Ken) Bosman, Kathy (Larry) McCarthy, Mary (Mike) Kargle, Cindy (Bob) Kapinus, Mary Goron-Corpus, Jan (Joe) Contreras, Leroy Kovalcik, Larry (Vicky) DiGiusto, Robert (Roberta) Querio and Dennis (Cindi) Goron. Also numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Catherine Goron; 4 Brothers, Joseph (Rose), Frank (Josephine), Edward (Irene), and Walter (Shirley); 3 sisters, Clara (Joseph) Kovalcik, Rose (Edward) Querio and Mary (Hugo) DiGiusto; her nephew, Gene (Jody) Goron; and 2 nieces, Marsha (Pino) Draganetti and Monica (Jim) Skylas.

The family asks that memorials be made in Florence’s name to Light Ways Hospice or St. Jude Catholic Church in Joliet.

Family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Florence’s life will continue on Saturday, July 24, 2021 with closing prayers beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The funeral will then drive in procession to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow and Florence will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Joliet.
