June 9, 1931 — January 25, 2023

Loretta Catherine Wojtak, 91, passed away on Wednesday, January, 25, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

A graduate of Joliet Township High School class of 1949, she met her future husband while attending Joliet Junior College and worked at Blockson Chemical.  Soon after she stayed home to raise their children. After her husband passed away in 1968 she went back to school and graduated from the College of St. Francis with a teaching degree, teaching a few years and then earned a Masters Degree in education from Northern Illinois University. She taught 2nd grade at Galloway School in Channahon for 20 1/2 years and worked with some of the best and nicest teachers and administrators who remained her friends.

Many of her hobbies were playing cards, bingo and going to the mall to meet her friends. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all the family gatherings.

Loretta enjoyed baking for all occasions, especially her chocolate chip cookies, which everyone loved.  She enjoyed making Polish dishes for the holidays. She loved spending time with her retired teacher friends, catching up and reminiscing.

A former choir member and lector at Holy Cross Church Loretta was a member of the Federation of Teachers, Local 604, IRTA and JARTA.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alex M. Wojtak, one son A.
