Marilyn L. (Omotta) Campus

November 21, 1947 — June 3, 2022

Marilyn L. Campus (nee Omotta) 74 passed away at home after a six-year courageous battle with cancer on June 3, 2022.  Preceded by her Mother Betty (nee Smith) and her Father Louis Omotta.

Survived by her husband of 54 years Daniel Campus, daughter Danielle Ingmanson and son Brian Campus; granddaughter Emily Ingmanson and grandson Luke Ingmanson.  Also left to mourn her loss are sisters Patricia “Patsy” (David) Dolnak, Nancy (late Paul) Kohl and Susan “Susie” Omotta.  Surviving too is a special aunt Doris (late Arthur) Paul, special cousin Arthur (Julie) Paul, as well as several cousins, four nephews and one niece.

Marilyn enjoyed playing sports and euchre.  She was a wonderful tennis player, she loved playing softball for Maurie’s Table with the girls, but she was best at bowling.  She bowled with Danny on the Saturday Night Fever mixed league as well as the woman’s Merry Maids morning league.

Marilyn belonged to the Auxiliary to the Cantigny Post VFW where she was elected through the chairs to the high office of President.  She could often be found with those wonderful ladies who cooked and served patrons of the fish fry, cooked and catered weddings and events upstairs, or manned the kitchen for patrons playing bingo.  When the kids were younger, she helped serve meals at Cunningham School and when Brian was in college, she went to work at JCA working in the kitchen for Bob Lovestad together with Vicky, Nancy, Gena, Bev and all the rest of the kitchen staff who all drove him nuts!  Marilyn also belonged to the Joliet Rivals Club Auxiliary.

Most of all she loved to travel, especially with the kids when they were growing up, then with her friends who she graduated with from Providence High School in 1965.  As the last all female graduating class some of the women had a bond such that they annually got together to visit a location within a day’s drive.   Lolly Rosado, Angie Lopez, Mary Sliz and Marilyn would set off on some adventure every year to just be together for the weekend.  She cherished those trips.  When Danny retired, they set off to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Jamaica and many other places.

Per Marilyn’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated. The family will be having a private celebration of life and would like to thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  The family would like to thank Dr. Robert W. Schubert, Dr. Sudarshan K. Sharma, and Lightways Hospice for all the compassionate care shown to Marilyn.
