Mary J “Mitzi” Kapsch, 98, passed away peacefully at Lakewood Nursing Center in Plainfield surrounded by her daughters and family members.
Born August 2, 1924, she was a lifelong resident of Joliet and Crest Hill.
Mary attended St. Joseph School in Joliet and was proud of her Slovenian heritage. She married Edward “Squeaky” Kapsch on June 29, 1946. She was a member of St. Anne Roman Catholic Church and KSKJ Lodge #29.
Survived by her loving daughters: Bonnie (Jack) McDavitt, Marsha (John) Prieboy, and Patti (Kurt) Murray; cherished grandchildren: Lori (Mark) Buonaiuto, Jeff (Karlene) Prieboy, John (Courtney) Prieboy, Chris Murray, Alex Murray, and Matt Murray; and adored great-grandchildren: Evan, Charlotte and Harrison. Survivors also include her sister-in-law: Vangie Wolf, along with numerous special nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband: Edward Kapsch (2007); father: Andrew Janesh; mother: Mary Wolf; stepfather: Anton Wolf; brother: August Janesh; sisters: Julie (Ray) Bregar and Helen (Ray) Kezele, and brothers: Joe (Cele) Wolf and Tony Wolf.
The family wishes to offer thanks to the staff and residents of Lakewood for their supportive care and friendship, and to Unity Hospice for their care during her final days. Also a special thanks to St. Mary Immaculate Church, who were there for Mary throughout her stay at Lakewood.
Memorial contributions to St. Mary Immaculate Pastoral Care Ministry, whose goal is that no one be forgotten, would be greatly appreciated.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. Interment will follow and Mary will be laid to rest with her husband, Edward at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Joliet.
