Mary “Sunny” Dolny

Age 102, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Willow Falls Retirement Community in Crest Hill.

Born January 4, 1917 in Lakefield, Minnesota, Mary was a daughter of John and Mary (Jacobs) Dolny. Sunny was raised and educated in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School with the class of 1934. She went on to open Sunny’s Beauty Shop in Plainfield and later in Joliet. Sunny was a free spirit who loved to travel, and enjoyed gardening, reading, music, dancing, and laughter. Her favorite times were spent with Mother Nature and in the great outdoors.

Survivors include her sister, Edith (the late James) Wagaman; nieces: Nancy (Charles) Tieman, Judy and Georgia Wagaman, and nephew, Robert Jungels.

Sunny was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Evelyn (Irvin) Jungels.

Per Sunny’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a private service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many friends and staff at Willow Falls for their never ending care, as well as the staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice.
