Maureen P. McCarley (known affectionately as “Mau” by family and friends) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 4, 2022. Mau was born on January 27, 1950, in Joliet Illinois. She was the third child of William and Wilhelmine McCarley. She loved crafting, her cats, spending time with her family and going up to northern Wisconsin with her friend, Linda. Mau was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle, IL. She received her bachelor’s degree from University of St. Francis and Master’s from George Williams College. She was a teacher and moved on to work in Human Resource Compensation and Benefits.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings Wilhelmine “Willie” Vidmar (Jay), William “Bill” McCarley II (Susan Rowan) and Kathleen (McCarley) Jones. She was also an aunt to seven nieces and nephews, as well as 19 great-nieces and nephews and an extended family and friends from every walk of life.
Mau was preceded in death by her parents William McCarley Sr. and Wilhelmine (Hammel) McCarley.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Alden of Waterford Memory Care in Aurora IL and Divine Hospice and Palliative Care of Yorkville IL for all wonderful care they gave Mau, not only during the COVID shutdown but these last few months as well. It was a great comfort to know she was with people that cared about her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Divine Hospice and Palliative Care of Yorkville IL, the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Mau’s life will be held with visitation from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. with chapel services beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Tezak Funeral Home with inurnment to follow at St John Cemetery in Joliet, IL.
