“Mike”

Age 42 of Joliet, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at his home.

Born September 2, 1979 in Joliet, Mike was the son of Edward and Judy (Peceniak) Kipilla. He was raised and educated in Joliet and attended DeVry University to obtain his associate’s degree in computer programming. Mike started his career and was with Toshiba for many years until recently when he transitioned to working for Val-Matic Valve and Manufacturing Corporation. He was easy going, fun spirited and laid-back. Mike had a passion for travel and was able to visit numerous places around the world. His greatest passion was cooking and even more so, grilling. Mike was a master when it came to grilling and smoking meats. Friends and family never missed a cookout when Mike was manning the grill. He had many close relationships with numerous friends, and two of his closest, Macio and Jeremy, were like brothers to him. Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents: Edward and Judy Kipilla; wife: Alma (Lopez) Kipilla; sister: Renea Kipilla; nieces: Olivia and Gabriella, as well as numerous friends and family.

Mike is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Michael and Irene Peceniak; paternal grandparents: John and Emily Kipilla, and cousins: Richy Peceniak and Eugene Kipilla.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Mike’s life will continue on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Avenue in Joliet.

Per Mike’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following Mass.
