Patricia A. (Swiersz) Schwab

b. January 1, 1970

Patricia A. Schwab (nee Swiersz), age 88, entered eternal life on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Parc of Joliet after suffering from a stroke. Born in Lockport to the late Edward and Josephine (nee Gurka) Swiersz and a lifelong Joliet resident. Pat was a graduate of Joliet Township High School class of 1950.

She is survived by five daughters, Nancy (Rich) Mahalik, Judi (Mike) Evergin, Sandi Fonseca, Pam Schwab (Randy Bode) and Sue (Jose) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Matthew Mahalik, Adam (Kristen) Fonseca, Jessica Fonseca, Luke Gonzalez and Nick Gonzalez (Kristyn); great-grandchildren, Brianna, Landon, Willow and Aspyn Gonzalez; two sisters, Joan (Don) Govoni and Gerry (the late Walt) Gutzman; two brothers, Dan (Marilyn) Swiersz and Edward (the late Clara) Swiersz; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Joseph Schwab; her loving companion of 30 years, Richard Lewandowski; sister-in-law, Clara Swiersz; and brother-in-law, Walt Gutzman.

Pat worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer and later was employed by K-Mart in New Lenox, retiring in 1994. Pat enjoyed vacationing in California and Las Vegas.

The family wishes to thank everyone who cared for Pat at Silver Cross Hospital, Our Lady of Angels, the Parc and the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice.

A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Joliet. Face masks and social distancing is required.
