Ravinder Kalia

Age 74 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at The University of Chicago Medical Center with his family by his side.

Born March 12, 1945 in India, Ravinder was the son of Krishan and Shanti Kalia. He was raised and educated in India and attended King George school. Following his education, Ravinder proudly served in the Indian Air Force in the footsteps of his father. While in the Air Force, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in engineering, and married Poonam Surinder in 1973. After his time in the Air Force and starting a family, Ravinder and Poonam relocated to the Joliet area where together they made their home and raised their family. He worked for Desoto Chemical Company until his retirement.

Ravinder was a sweet, soft spoken man who was deeply religious and devoted to his faith. He was kind, creative, selfless and generous. Ravinder was always the first one to help out family, friends and neighbors with whatever was asked of him, and he always did so with a smile. Along with his faith, he was also deeply devoted to his family, who were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survived by Poonam his wife of 46 years; children: Preeti (Raveend) Thabolingam and Chandan Kalia; grandson: Krishan Thabolingam, and sisters: Swadesh (Nand) Sharma and Anita (the late Vijay) Banathia.

Ravinder is preceded in death by his parents.

Viewing ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. and followed by a Prayer Service at 1:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet.
