Sophie K. Anderson (nee Konjevich), age 86, born into eternal life on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
Sophie was born to Milos and Martha (Vracar) Konjevich in Lockport, IL. She married Charles C. Anderson in 1958 and together they began a family of their own.
Sophie is survived by her children, Richard (Sherry) Anderson, Barbara (Wesley) Miller, Walter Anderson and Mary (Ted) Teberg; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred (the late Glenn) Zaloudek; brother, Peter (the late Mavis); brothers, Draza (the late Nannette), John Konjevich; sister, Natalie (Wayne) Suyenaga; cousins, Diane and Donna.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles C. Anderson; parents, Milos and Martha Konjevich; brothers, Milorad (the late Joan), Nicholas, Sam (Barbara), Dan and Milos (Bonnie); sister, Mary (the late Charles) Book; aunts, Mildred Suca and Sophia Roberts.
Sophie attended Channahon Grade School and graduated from Minooka High School. She was employed at Plaza Gift Shop, Illinois Bell, Manor Inn, State Farm, Rendel’s and St. George Social Center. Sophie was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, St. George Choir, Mita Topalovich Choir, Circle of Serbian Sisters, Serbian National Federation and a past member of the Joliet Women’s Club and the Joliet B.P.W.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church or the charity of your choice.
A celebration of Sophie’s life will begin on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Pomen Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park II.
