Theodore W. Ziegler

April 27, 1952 — April 23, 2022

Theodore W. Ziegler, age 69 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.

Born April 27, 1952 in Joliet, Ted was the son of William and Evelyn (Baade) Ziegler. He was raised and educated in New Lenox and graduated from Lincoln Way High School with the class of 1970. Ted went onto earn an Associate of Arts Degree from Joliet Junior College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northern Illinois University. He worked in the banking and financial industry for forty years and in that time served as Assistant Manager for Public Finance Corp., Assistant Manager for Commercial Credit, Vice President of First National Bank of Lockport and Vice President of Oswego Community Bank.

On top of Ted’s outstanding work ethic, he also served his community and church. He was involved in numerous organizations and events that included the Oswego Optimist Club, Waubonsee Community College – Advisory Board member for Small Business Development Center, Oswego Community Bank – Scholarship Coordinator, Oswego Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the 1991 recipient of the Lockport Rotary Rotarian of the year award, former Lockport Rotary President and Board of Directors member, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship, former Vice Chairman of the Dellwood Foundation, Tomahawk District Boy Scouts, past SME campaign chairman, and former church council chairman for the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Outside of his professional and community involvement, Ted had numerous interests and hobbies. In his retirement, Ted appointed himself the position of unpaid intern within his son’s company in which he assisted with marketing and various other tasks requested of him. He was an avid Chicago White Sox and Northern Illinois University Huskie Football fan. He was also a history buff, especially American history and particularly Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War. So much so, that he was a founding member of the Oswego Civil War Roundtable and a member of the South Suburban Civil War Roundtable.

Ted’s most treasured times were always spent with his children and grandchildren. Whether they were rooting for the White Sox in Chicago or Arizona or the Huskies during football season, or going camping in the Rocky Mountains and enjoying the smell and warmth from a campfire, the brightness of the stars or the smell of morning coffee brewing on the camp stove in the morning. Ted also loved to travel and loved to learn. The numerous road trips with his wife Jan, visiting Hawaii, the United Kingdom, seeing the western U.S., Aspen, visiting Civil War sites in the southern states, and the list goes on. Just as equal for his love to travel, he also enjoyed just sitting on the deck with Jan admiring her flowers and rose garden. Ted said that it was like having their own private park. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ted is survived by his wife: Janet (nee’ Feutz); sons: Scott (Britney) Ziegler and Eric (Monique) Ziegler; grandchildren: Olivia, Joshua, Andrew, Amia, Elizabeth and Jackson Ziegler, and sisters: Virginia (Bill) Waldvogel and Patricia (the late George) Bucksar.

He is preceded in death by his parents: William and Evelyn and niece: Laura Bucksar Ramsey.
